GEST - Gothenburg English Studio Theatre is an award-winning English-speaking theatre located in Gothenburg, Sweden and is the only professional English-speaking theatre in western Sweden. GEST was founded in 2005 by Kristina Brändén Whitaker and Gary Whitaker with the aim of providing quality, contemporary and award-winning theatre in the English language. GEST works with professional actors and directors from Britain and Sweden and aims to produce theatre of the highest standard, which is accessible to everyone. As well as performing in Sweden at our two stages, GEST also performs internationally and is always keen to collaborate with theatres abroad. What’s happening: GEST will host different theatre performances. One specifically made for Children. Performances will run from Wednesday 3 September to Sunday 7 September 2025. Tickets are available on our website. Accessibility: All spaces are completely accessible if you use a wheelchair or mobility scooter. Both entrances are on ground level on Chapmans Torg and Karl Johansgatan 88 and cars can stop next to each entrance. There are accessible WCs easily accessible from all spaces. A hearing loop (hörslinga) is installed in thenew theatre space! Guide/ Medical Response dogs are welcome inside the building. If you wish to attend a performance, a member of staff can care for your dog. Alternatively, depending upon the production, it may be possible for you to take your dog into the performance – please contact us.
Note: The closest tram and bus stop is Chapmans Torg. From there, it’s a short 2 minute walk to GEST.
