Moved to Scandinavia. Fell in love. Passport says yes. DNA says no.
Ulug Bek studied in Sweden, settled in Denmark, and has spent years trying to integrate — he cycles, he recycles, he worships the sun. He still butchers the language, messes up the week numbers, and has zero Scandinavian friends, but doesn't seem to mind. Is a Viking blood transfusion his last chance to become Scandinavian?
This is the show for expats who are integrated... almost. And the Swedes who know exactly why Denmark deserved to lose Skåne. Chances are, you'll recognize yourself somewhere in it.
Ulug Bek is a Copenhagen-based comedian from Uzbekistan who fell in love with Scandinavia and has spent years trying to become one of them — mastering the recycling system, cycling through the rain, still losing to the language. He turns the results into deadpan observations on integration, work culture, and impressively polite people who think they're being direct while doing everything to avoid a conflict.
Ulug has toured 20+ sold-out shows across Denmark with ALMOST DANES and ALMOST DANES 2, his duo shows with Kriti Prajapati, and brought ALMOST SCANDINAVIANS, also with Kriti, to sold-out runs at Gothenburg Fringe and Stockholm Fringe in 2024. He has also performed across the Nordics with his solo show PLEASE STEP ASIDE.
