‘The Emigrants’ from Gaza
The play "The Emigrants from Gaza" is an act of resistance against the cultural genocide in Gaza. It works to continue, preserve, and amplify the lost culture.

The play echoes the last production performed in Gaza at “Theater for Everybody”-The Emigrants by Sławomir Mrożek, directed by Noam Nassar, as documented in the video of the original performance. This play was a Gazan version about two emigrants spending New Year’s Eve in a basement in a western country.

Two Palestinian actors from ’48 step into the roles of their Gazan counterparts and recreate their performances. The lights, costumes, acting, and directing follow the original play from Gaza. This reenactment is interspersed with the testimonies of one of the original Gazan actors, Hossam Al-Madhoun, who recounts life under genocide until he manages to leave Gaza to Egypt six months later.
The actors do not just perform — they present evidence. The audience will not just watch — they will bear witness. The performance will build a fragile, stubborn world on stage while the real world collapses outside.
