Koloristen

Trixter

A performance inspired by the life of the painter Åke Göransson, which was a fascinating and heartbreaking war between conditions and passion. For Göransson, painting was a necessity and could arise anywhere. He defied poverty by shining shoes on a mirror, if
necessary. He grew up in a one-room apartment in Landala in Gothenburg, with his mother and three brothers. He worked as a hairdresser from the age of 15 and died at the age of forty from tuberculosis in Lillhagen mental hospital. During his last days, a treasure of most of his artwork was found in the kitchen sofa in Landala. He claimed that they were "just studies, not finished yet". For posterity, he is one of Sweden's most prominent painters and expressionists.

What drove Göransson to continue painting through poverty, tuberculosis and mental illness? What drives the artist to continue creating despite the worst possible conditions? This is also reflected in a parallel story - a single mother trying to survive as an actress.

Koloristen is a manifesto for the strong human need to express and experience the unspoken through the means of expression of art.
Kristin Falksten is an actress and playwright from Gothenburg, where she also studied at the Academy of Performing Arts and Music. The Colorist premiered at the Gothenburg Art Museum in 2024. It has also been performed at Lunchteatern at the Gothenburg City
Theatre and twice at the Gothenburg City Library. It was selected as one of the year's top performing arts events in 2024 in Kulturbloggen.
