Gathenhielmska Huset

Built in 1749, Gathenhielmska Huset is one of Gothenburg’s oldest secular buildings and the city’s only preserved wooden townhouse from the middle of the 18th century. History quite literally oozes out of the walls of this stunning house. It is still containing many original features, each room possesses its own vibe. Since 2020, Gathenhielmska Huset has opened its doors as a hub for artistic and cultural activities. What’s happening: Gathenhielmska Huset will host different types of performances, like music, dance, physical theatre, improvisation and clowning indoors and outdoors in the beautiful garden. Performances will run from Monday 1 September to Sunday 7 September 2025. Tickets are available on our website. Accessibility: Please note that Gathenhielmska Huset is not wheelchair accessible.
Note: The closest tram and bus stop is Stigbergstorget. From there, it’s a short 2 minute walk to Gathenhielmska Huset.
