Mode I: Songs for the Dark Lake

Gathenhielmska Huset

Mode I – Songs for the Dark Lake is a performance for one musician and live electronics. The concert invites the audience into a sound world influenced by experimental music, early mediaeval polyphony and music archeology.
The concert is performed with a series of specially tuned woodwinds, stringed instruments and percussions that were handcrafted and modified by the artist from traditional and experimental instrument designs. The performance offers a meditative, imaginative and at times danceable music experience, drawing inspiration from tradition while pushing the boundaries of musical form and harmony.

Timoteo Carbone Hansson is a musician and composer based in Göteborg, his practice explores alternative harmonies and tunings through instrument crafting, modern composition techniques and field work research in traditional music.
His projects, in the form of concerts, performances and installations, have been presented in various international festivals and art institutions, such as Gaudeamus Muziek Festival (Utrecht), Museum Stedelijk (Amsterdam), Boijmans Museum (Rotterdam), A Dag in de Branding Festival and Rewire Festival (Den Haag), Romaeuropa Festival (Rome) and LOD Music Theater (Ghent).
